The History
Tent Stake

12/17/2011

When I went looking to replace the plastic tent stakes that came with my tent, I found that there were no tent stakes built well enough to use in tough soil conditions. Stakes that were built out of plastic were likely to break the first time I hit a buried rock or tree root.

The steel stakes on the market were made from sheet metal, with a sorry looking wire hook tacked in place, if the hook didn't come loose the sheet metal might bend.

Some other metal stakes had steel spikes but were fitted with a small plastic hook near the head... another recipe for disaster.

It was then that I designed and built my first tent stakes. They work great and with a few new ideas and a little redesign I introduced the stakes for sale on this site.

That was over ten year ago. The Internet has changed, a lot. There was no Facebook and people didn't Tweet each other and cell phones weren't smart.

Now with new resources at my disposal I hope to sell more of these spikes that ever before; which have been in the thousands. The first large sale I made was to the U.S. Army. A few years later I sold 5000 to a home builder in the central United States.

The production was then turned over to, David Blankenship who continued to sell them on eBay, like I had done before.

After a almost 3 year hiatus, they are available again. This time sales will be handled through other merchant sites like Etsy at first and maybe others as time permits.

The most significant changes are to this website, which has become a hub for all of my manufacturing and artistic ventures. Other changes in the future are changes in my procedures in an effort to speed production and control rising costs.
